In this unit students learn to ask how to say and spell words in English and the lette rs Ii-Rr. The topic of this unit is about things around peop le, and the students can learn how to identify things.

1. Discuss what these letters (P, NBA, kg) mean in gr oups.
2. Ask the students to say out where we can find English words or English names around us and what they are.What’s th e mean ing of them? Maybe the students can l ist a 1ot.If they couldn’t,give them some notes such as: USA am pm cm MTV

1.Present the usage of “a” and “an” with conversations:

Present a conversation with the help of a key.

T: Yes, it’s a key. K-E-Y, key. We can spell it K-E-Y.
Step 2. Pair work
Practice the dialogue by using other different words in pairs, such as:
A: What’s this in English? B: It’s a map.
A: Spell it, please. B: M-A-P.
Step 3. Listening practice
SB page 10 Activity 1a&1b Play the tape and check the answers.
Step 4. Practice
Practice the di alogue and write down what they see in the picture in 2a.
Step5. Practice
And get them to introduce themselves to the others with their new English name. The teacher can give them an examp le with the help of one student.
For example:
